Anzac day is such a great day for our country. A day to remember the courage and bravery shown by so many before us. To allow us to live the way we do today. They sacrificed much – some made the ultimate sacrifice. Others forever defined by what they were faced with.
We are very lucky to play football on this special day. It is not lost on the players. We understand the importance of the day, but also, although we could not and would not ever compare what the ANZACS did to a game of football, we acknowledge that we need to show the same attributes as they did to ensure success – Mateship, courage, persistence and skill.
I’m looking forward to once again representing the Collingwood Football club on such a special occasion.
There have been so many great Anzac moments!
Thank you all for your comments. It was too hard for me to pick a favourite so I selected my top 10, and then had my bloggers vote on their number one moment.
Some of the most popular moments you wrote about included Sav Rocca, David Zaharakis, Paul Medhurst and Paddy Ryder.
In the end, they decided on the champ……
“I am a die hard Collingwood supporter, but i wouldn’t be the only one to believe how much of a champion James Hird was. In 2003 he was the Anzac day medalist with 5 goals, 27 possessions, 5 clearances and 8 inside 50s. He was a champion midfielder but his ability to dominate the whole ground that day was unbelievable – that was the greatest moment ever.”
Congratulations Ali on winning 2 Anzac day tickets and I hope everyone enjoys the day!

What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
